What are the top 2 challenges in IP enforcement you see affecting your industry over the next year?
In the fight against online counterfeiting, our client will have to face both the diversification of sales vectors such as metaverses, and an exponential increase in dynamic content. In this context, two questions arise: the means of detection to be used; and which type of IP rights are concerned. Detection will be enhanced through the use of artificial intelligence tools. These tools will have to be supplemented by greater accountability of online platforms, similar to what is done by the EU with The Digital Services Act and Digital Markets Act.
What is one way a brand with a mature IP enforcement program can take their efforts to the next level?
An IP enforcement program could be upgraded by a better exchange between on-line enforcement and off-line enforcement teams. The interaction between the online and offline investigations is not one-way. It is a succession of moves: starting from on-line monitoring, to test purchase, then cyber investigation and finally field investigation. Even this final step could be enhanced by outsourcing platforms and cyber-monitoring software; where a field investigation could take several weeks to complete, the same job could be done in two weeks for a much lower cost.
What hobbies or causes are you passionate about?
I am passionate about endurance sports, and particularly Triathlons. It combines swimming, cycling and running in one race. I have participated in more than 50 triathlons, including two in the longest format, the "Ironman race". What I particularly appreciate in these events is the diversity of activities (three sport in one!), the outdoor environment, and above all, the solidarity between the athletes. From the first to the last of us, we all encourage each other. This gives great strength in the most difficult times.
