IACC President Bob Barchiesi and Vice President Mike Walsh recently traveled to Rome, Italy to meet with senior leadership of the Guardia di Finanza (GdF) and advance discussions on continued collaboration to protect intellectual property rights.

The IACC’s partnership with the GdF dates back to 2015, when the two organizations held their first joint training. During this visit, Bob and Mike met with General Bruno Buratti, second-in-command of the Guardia di Finanza, to explore new ways to strengthen enforcement cooperation.

World Vision Spotlight

World Vision Logo

The IACC collaborates with associations around the world in our shared goal to combat counterfeiting and piracy. We are pleased to spotlight World Vision's Corporate Partnership program, in particular, its ability to offer companies opportunities for disposal of counterfeit goods.

How does World Vision ensure that donated product, including seized goods, is distributed ethically and securely, both domestically and internationally?

World Vision applies strict controls to ensure all donated products, including seized counterfeit or surplus goods, are handled responsibly and distributed ethically. In coordination with customs agencies and corporate partners, we verify that items are legally cleared and pose no legal or reputational risk.

Once accepted, products are managed through a secure supply chain and distributed directly to individuals in controlled environments, never through open markets. Internationally, we work with vetted field offices and trusted local partners who understand the cultural and economic context, ensuring donations meet real needs and uphold community ownership.

What safeguards are in place to protect my brand’s reputation when donating surplus or branded items?

To safeguard your brand and prevent counterfeiting risks, we enforce strict protocols that prohibit unauthorized resale or misuse of donated branded goods. All items are distributed in secure, controlled environments directly to individuals, and we do not allow any donated products to enter secondary or open markets.

Additionally, we work closely with our donors to develop customized visibility and usage guidelines, including mutually agreed-upon de-branding processes. These measures ensure that your brand remains protected and that donated goods are used solely for their intended humanitarian purpose.

Can World Vision provide documentation or impact reports showing how donated clothing has helped communities?

Yes, and we recognize how important transparency is in the context of anti-counterfeiting and brand assurance. World Vision can provide detailed impact reports that include distribution records, beneficiary data, and photos (where appropriate), all within a secure and compliant framework.
