IACC Opens Dialogue and Cooperation with CEO of Saudi Authority for IP (SAIP)

Recently, IACC President Bob Barchiesi and executive staff hosted our first high-level meeting with H.E. Dr. Abdulaziz AlSwailem, CEO and Mrs. Aljawharah A. Alrajeh, Head of BOD and Advisors Office Department of the Saudi Authority for IP (SAIP). During the meeting, SAIP and IACC provided an in-depth introduction about our respective mission and goals, and came away with concrete ideas on 

ways to share information and resources, and collaborate to enhance IP protection and brands' experience with IP enforcement in Saudi Arabia. Future joint activities include areas such as small and medium sized enterprises, feedback on IP regulations and processes, among others. 

"We are excited to work with Dr. AlSwailem and his team at the SAIP as we expand our partnership and international footprint," said Bob Barchiesi. "As Saudi Arabia works to diversify their economy, fostering and protecting innovation and IP will be more important than ever. We look forward to sharing our resources with national brands as well as facilitating greater communication between SAIP and our member brands."

Created in 2018 and directly reporting to the Prime Minister, the SAIP is responsible for the development and coordination of the country's national IP strategy as well as administering its IP registration system. Their mandate includes undertaking an assessment of the country’s legislative framework and to implement enhancements to processes for the acquisition / management / enforcement of IP rights.
